Marcello Giugliano

PhD (2012) in “Multilingual Communication: Translation, Linguistics and Comparative Literature” from the Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona. His doctoral thesis focussed on the analysis of Robert Frost’s mimesis of orality and on its translation in Catalan and Italian.

He has worked as an adjunct lecturer at the Pompeu Fabra University (2012-2013) and at the Ruhr University Bochum, Germany (2013-2015). He is currently lecturing at the Department of Applied Linguistics and Translatology of the Leipzig University, Germany.

He is developing a post-doctoral research project (German Habilitation) that aims at interconnecting the fields of Imagology, Translation Studies and Digital Humanities. His project focuses on the image of the United States of America as it was created and consolidated by Catalan, Italian and Spanish intellectuals with their translation work of North American canonical literature and with their interpretation of this image in their own literary work in the twentieth century.
