DATABASES

Among other objectives, TRILCAT aims to create translation and literature databases related to 20th century Catalan literature.

Reception and Translation Studies

[Go to database]

This database aims to gather information about the relationship between the literatures and cultures of different countries and compare themwith Catalan literature. In order to create a comprehensive corpus in this field of research, contributions focus on the analysis of an author’s reception, specific projects and literary movements. In addition, translations of foreign works carried outby Catalan authors have been considered essential. The aforementioned studies, carried outduring the last century and at the beginning of the present one, belong to a different genre: monographs, articles published inspecialized journals, proceedings of congresses and symposia, research works and doctoral dissertations. The main sources are the TRACES and CBUC electronic catalogues, as well as the most important national and international journals related to literary reception and the history of translation. We are currently working on a database which collects studies from the end of the 19th century until 1939.

[Go to database (1939–1975) | Go to database (s. XIX–1939)]

The database gathers translations of literature into Catalan (19th century – 2000), and is created with the support of Ministerial Research Projects HUM2005-03926/FILO, “La recepción de formas literarias, corrientes y géneros, y su traducción en la literatura catalana (1906 – 1939)” [“Reception of literary forms, movements and genres and their translation in Catalan literature (1906 – 1939)”], FFI2008-03522, “Traducción, recepción y literatura catalana durante el régimen franquista (1939 – 1975)” [“Translation, reception and Catalan literature during Franco’s regime (1939 – 1975)”] and FFI2014-54915-P “La traducción en el ámbito literario catalán desde el final del franquismo (1976-2000)” [“Translation in the field of Catalan literature since the end of Franco’s regime (1976-2000)”].The Grup de Recerca Consolidat de la Generalitat de Catalunya [Consolidated Research Group of the Generalitat of Catalonia], 2014 SGR 486, seeksto incorporate literary translations performed within Catalan culture, from the 19th century until 2000. It is confined to literature works or works with a literary value, such as specific cultural, philosophical and religious essays. In its first phase, the database has catalogued published translations in book format.

The main sources are based on editorial catalogues and databases from the Biblioteca Nacional de Catalunya and the CollectiveCatalogue of the Universitiesof Catalonia (CCUC), in addition to bibliographies, monographs and expert studies. An unfinished catalogue of translations was used for the period from the 19thcentury to1939, which was generously offered to us by Fundació Enciclopèdia Catalana.

This database is open to different enquiries according to the scholar’s priorities (searches can be done by author, translator, editorial, year, literature, etc.), which makes it easier to access certain information and analyse specific data.
